Nissan Cube Canada

The Nissan Cube is a mini-MPV or Multi-Purposed Vehicle manufactured by Nissan in Japan since 1998, the MPV segment became popular in Japan and Asia as a taller sub-compact vehicle, the Cube was based on the Nissan Micra platform, the Nissan Cube didn't arrive to Canada until the third generation was announced in 2009. The first generation Cube was equipped with a small 1.3L engine and optional 4WD making it a sporty car to drive and while it was only released in Japan it quickly made its way to Australia and China by enthusiasts, some compared it to the square looking Scion xB, manufactured by Toyota, while the Cube isn't as customizable as the Scion xB it's significantly cheaper than the youth and performance driven Scion brand.

The second generation Nissan Cube was launched in 2002 and was designed as a balance between the original Cube and Nissan March (marketed as Micra in Canada), with a larger exterior body it continued to use Nissan's B-platform which was later used with the Nissan Juke and Nissan Versa. The new Cube received a 1.4L engine, which included optional CVT transmission and the Nissan Cube3 which added a third row of seats for 7 passengers. The 2005 Cube received an optional 1.5L engine with 108HP shared with the Nissan Tiida. A Cube concept was unveiled at the 2008 Auto Show in New York as an electric vehicle, however Nissan hasn't set a release date for the electric Cube version.

The last generation Nissan Cube arrived to Canada in 2009 a year later after it was made available in Japan, it immediately made headlines as the Top 10 Coolest Cars under $18k and was awarded the 2010 Automobile Design of the Year Award. Like most new Japanese designed vehicles the Cube received reviews from both extremes; rating it as the best compact Cube or the most unstylish car designed by Nissan, Nissan has a hard time comparing it to the very successful and stylish Murano which broke sale records in the crossover SUV segment. The 2012 Cube in Canada is equipped with a 1.8L DOHC engine with 122HP, while the 4WD isn't available in Canada there is an optional Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with transmission oil warmer, which significantly improves fuel economy. The Nissan Cube includes active break limited slip, Traction Control System (TCS), 4-wheel anti-lock ABS brakes and Electronic Brake force Distribution with Brake Assist.
